Product Description
Park Tool BBT-RS Bottom Bracket Tool Retaining System
One of the first time-savers they invented was a stand that held the bike off the ground allowing easy, back saving access to any part of the bike. This original stand was put together using legs from a dining room table, an empty shell casing and a truck axle from a 37 Ford. As other shops, and eventually Schwinn Bicycle Company, saw the stand in action, requests were made for a production model. Park Tool Company was born!
The line grew quickly to include a wheel truing stand, more repair stands including a double arm shop version, wrenches gauges, fixtures and consumer tools soon joined the company's offerings. The retail side of the business also grew earning Top Ten Schwinn dealer status fifteen years in a row including number one overall in 1977. In the early 1980s all three retail shops were sold to concentrate on the tool business.
Park Tool BBT-RS Bottom Bracket Tool Retaining System
Bottom brackets have some of the highest torque specs of any component found on a bicycle.
Despite this, some bottom bracket cups feature tool fittings that allow mere millimeters of engagement, which can be a problem when attempting removal or installation.
Solution: the Park Tool Bottom Bracket Tool Retaining System. Used in conjunction with nearly any Park Tool bottom bracket tool, the BBT-RS uses a spring-based tension system to apply consistent, adjustable pressure to the tool, ensuring full engagement with the tool fitting and preventing slippage.
The BBT-RS can be configured for use with the vast majority of threaded and thread-together bottom bracket standards.
The BBT-RS features an M8 threaded rod and a double-sided adapter nut with M12 and M15 threads, allowing it to thread directly into any compatible cartridge bottom bracket.
The M15 adapter can also be used to install any of Park Tool's current models of aluminum bottom bracket tools, all of which feature integrated threading for use with the BBT-RS.
