Product Description
ZIPP 303 S Carbon Tubeless Disc Brake Wheelset
Zipp is an American company that is best known for designing, manufacturing, and marketing carbon-composite bicycle wheels for road cycling, triathlons, track racing, and mountain biking.
The company's product range also includes handlebars, stems, seat posts, tires, inner tubes, handlebar tape, and bags.
In 1988, the company was founded by motorsports engineer Leigh Sargent and released its first carbon fiber disc wheel.
Zipp was acquired by bicycle component manufacturer Sram in November 2007. In October 2010, Zipp relocated from its original design and manufacturing facility in Speedway, Indiana to an expanded site in Indianapolis.
The company was first to market with dimpled discs and rims (they also own the patent), to induce boundary layer turbulence and prevent detached airflow in crosswinds.
Zipp has done pioneering research in aerodynamics, using various high tech wind tunnels, and has published advanced papers in this area.
The company was also the first to produce disc wheels, deep section rims, and cranksets using carbon fiber technology.
ZIPP 303 S Carbon Tubeless Disc Brake Wheelset
Catering for the demands of modern riders, Zipp's 303 S Carbon Tubeless Disc Brake Wheelset is both versatile and fast.
It uses a 45mm deep carbon rim with an internal width that's optimised aerodynamically when paired with a 28mm tubeless tyre, however, you can also fit tyres up to 50mm wide, making it a great choice for gravel racing and adventure riding.
Developed specifically for disc brake setups and to be run tubeless, you'll benefit from the comfort, fast-rolling and puncture protection that running lower air pressure brings.
Zipp's own 76D and 176D hubs are laced to the rim using 24 Sapim CX-Sprint spokes front and rear, and the construction is stiff and strong, able to deal with the smoothest tarmac, cobbles and loose gravel alike.
The great value of this wheelset makes top performance attributes accessible to more riders.
HIGHLIGHTS
Zipp graphics and cosmetic identity that scream speed
Fastest with 28mm, also fits wide gravel tyres up to 50mm wide
Wide rim optimises tyre profile to allow lower tyre pressure, especially with tubeless.
The result is a larger contact patch for increased grip for confident cornering, descending, and handling in wet conditions
Lower tyre pressures and larger volume provides a compliant ride with fewer vibrations
Significant watt savings when running larger tyres at lower pressure
Wide hookless rims create a seamless transition to the tyre, reducing drag
76 / 176 DB hub with Centre-Lock interface
Only compatible with tubeless specific tyres
